The AgeTech Research Institutewas established in response to a super-aged society and
to foster age-friendly emerging industries in the digital era.
It aims to conduct research that addresses paradigm shifts and the evolving needs of a
new generation of older adults who differ from previous ones.
Targeting older adults, the baby boomer generation, middle-aged individuals, and care workers,
the institute seeks to propose platform-based, integrated solutions that connect education, research, and industry.
The institute’s specific goals are as follows:
To maximize the leverage of technological innovation, we aim to integrate product and service development that enables effective utilization of developed technologies. By expanding the existing Age-Friendly Verification Centers, Industrial Innovation Centers, and Living Labs into an "Open Living Lab" across community, market, enterprise, and global levels, we strive to propose demand-driven service models, business models, and policy-linked public engagement strategies.
Through collaboration with the Department of Gerontology and interdisciplinary programs in aging services and technology, we operate a transdisciplinary education system encompassing gerontology, biogerontology, medical nutrition, medicine, engineering, and housing&interior design. In addition, we run non-curricular programs to cultivate professionals in age-friendly industries, linking these with problem-solving-oriented training courses.
We foster the development of new age-friendly industries through collaboration with a network of over 746 companies, expanding educational and research-based integrated content via an open platform for academia-industry cooperation.
